This lovely home has sweeping views of the tidal rivers. Spending their summers in Madison, this couple wanted a retreat-style garden to compliment the style of their home. They were interested in a landscape filled with rich color that delighted the eye all summer long. A seaside themed garden was the key point for their vanishing edge pool. We softened the privacy fence with a variety of unique hostas for foliage and a wash of colorful perennials that ebb and flow with the seasons much like the ebb and flow of the tide. When one plant is just about done blooming, another perennial has already started, creating constant character within the garden.

A narrow border along a fence is a great way to soften the harshness of a transition area between rigid fence and living grass. It allows for the fence to add as an accent rather than just a rigid structure. The proper landscape creates a living border.
